Medical Dictation: Terminology, Abbreviations, and Privacy

Medical dictation has two hard requirements most consumer apps get wrong: terminology has to be exact, and patient information can't casually leave the device. DictaWiz is built on-device from the ground up, which addresses the privacy half directly, and it's customizable enough to address the terminology half.

On-device by architecture, not by toggle

Every AI model, dictation, cleanup, summaries, runs locally on your device. There's no account and no analytics. Nothing is sent to a server unless you deliberately connect your own API key for an optional cloud engine.

For anything touching patient information, that's a materially different starting point than an app where "private mode" is a setting layered on top of cloud-first processing.

Medical terms, corrected once, right forever

Set up abbreviations and vocabulary entries for medical terms, drug names, and phrases you dictate often. DictaWiz applies the correction going forward instead of you fixing the same word every time.

Clean text without leaving the note-taking flow

Dictate directly into whatever app you chart in, DictaWiz cleans up grammar and formatting as you talk, so the output reads like something you wrote, not a raw transcript.

Multilingual, still offline

25 languages on the fast engine, 99+ on the comprehensive engine, with auto-detect, all processed locally. Useful when a patient conversation happens in a language other than the one you chart in.

FAQ

Does patient-related dictation ever leave the phone?
Not by default. Processing is entirely on-device unless you separately choose to add a cloud API key, which is never required for core features.
Can I add medical abbreviations and drug names?
Yes, set up custom abbreviations and vocabulary corrections for any terms DictaWiz doesn't get right by default.
Is DictaWiz a HIPAA-compliant service?
DictaWiz doesn't transmit or store dictation on a server by default, since processing is on-device, but it is not independently certified as HIPAA-compliant. Confirm your own compliance requirements before using any tool for patient data.
